The irony of it all. A Georgia state flag – the original Confederate flag – is draped over the casket of the Rev. C.T. Vivian as he lies in state at the Capitol on Wednesday, July 22, 2020.
As reported by CNN.com, The Rev. C.T. Vivian, a civil rights leader who participated in the Freedom Rides and worked alongside Martin Luther King Jr., was honored in Atlanta on Wednesday.
After lying in state at the Capitol, Vivian was taken to King’s tomb by a horse-drawn carriage.
Vivian, who former President Barack Obama called “a pioneer who pulled America closer to our founding ideals,” died Friday at the age of 95. He will be buried Thursday in a private ceremony.
Hello Michael Langston. All confederate-anything is racist. Period.
Out of ignorance, folks voted in 2003 for the current flag. The voters did not realize it was the first confederate flag, but those who put it forth – the white racists politicians and the person who created it – knew exactly what they were doing. In fact, taxpayers need a refund from the person that was paid to create it since the only thing he/she did was drop the Georgia seal in the middle of the confederate flag.
Enjoy your day.
