Every day, school bus drivers carry our children with care, responsibility, and vigilance. For Jamario Felder, a Gwinnett County Public Schools bus driver of four years, that duty turned into a life-saving moment this past August.
When a student on his bus suddenly stopped breathing, Felder acted without hesitation. “Her not breathing, her not having a pulse,” he recalls. “I was panicking because it’s like okay, now what do I do?”
Felder’s quick thinking and courage made all the difference. His actions ensured the student received immediate help and survived what could have been a tragedy.
In recognition of his bravery, the Rotary Club of Gwinnett has honored Felder as a “Hidden Hero.” This well-deserved title reflects the everyday heroes among us — community members who step up in critical moments when lives are on the line.
We celebrate Jamario Felder for his heroism, his dedication to the safety of Gwinnett students, and his reminder that extraordinary courage often comes from ordinary people.
